Position Summary:
Designers are entry-level team members. Designers collaborate on creative projects while absorbing mentorship and instruction. This position is typically held for two years while team members build a portfolio of professional work. Designers MUST exhibit strong two-way communication skills — articulating their insights and responding to constructive feedback without taking it personally. Thick skin is a prerequisite to a long and successful career in the creative field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing creative concepts that align with client business objectives
- Studying relevant materials including research, job updates and creative briefs
- Illustrating or sketching concepts that explore design arrangement, type size and style
- Submitting all work for review by senior personnel and responding positively to constructive feedback
- Preparing and exporting finished art by utilizing necessary equipment and applications
- Contributing to team efforts and accomplishing assigned tasks on time
- Creating a wide range of graphics and layouts for project illustrations, company logos, websites etc.
- Exhibiting a solid understanding of typography and its element in design and space
- Fulfilling basic duties that help them grow in the realm of graphic design. Designers often work on multiple aspects of a project under the supervision of senior personnel.
- Begins to understand and adhere to branding, photo and video production, interactive, content development, campaign development, print production and prepress best practices and processes
Education/Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field
- 0-2 years of experience in graphic design or related field
- Awards, internships and other achievements in related disciplines
- Tangible graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
- Proficiency in required desktop publishing tools, including MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- A strong eye for visual composition
- Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Willingness to give and receive constructive criticism
- Understanding of marketing and design for both traditional and digital media
